Activities of Daily Living (ADL)

In the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training, individuals learn adaptive techniques in the areas of home management, grooming, and cooking. The individuals learn how to use adaptive devices and alternative techniques for performing such tasks as telling time, identifying/folding money, pouring beverages, cooking, sweeping floors, labeling appliances in the home, etc. This training provides the individual with the opportunity to enhance his or her level of independence, develop self-confidence, and enable optimal carryover of skills into everyday life.
